From Addiction to Ultramarathon Runner: Success Story of Matthew Roda

This week we sat down with Matthew Roda, author of the book How To Take Down Goliath & Unleash Your Inner Hero. Matthew, who is a husband, father, published author, business owner, and ultra-marathon runner, didn't get here without his own struggles with addiction. Like many others, Matt began dabbling with marijuana in high school, which led to hallucinogen use and eventual abuse of OxyContin. 

 

Now that Matt has overcome those tumultuous times, he's taken to a new hobby - Running.  In this episode, we talk about the transformative process Matt went through and how he combats complacency to continue to push himself to new limits.

Surviving the Heroin Epidemic with Sarah Spier.

Today we have Sarah Spier with us to discuss her perspective on the opioid epidemic, her first-hand experience with heroin abuse, and how she overcame it. Formerly a previous IV heroin user, Sarah is now one of the Directors of the largest adolescent substance abuse and mental health treatment facilities in Washington State. We dive in about the challenges she faced during her addiction and the challenges that we are facing today with Fentanyl now being the number one cause of death amongst US adults, ages 18-45.
